93b63df762 samples, tests: convert string-based twister lists to YAML lists
Twister now supports using YAML lists for all fields that were written
as space-separated lists. Used twister_to_list.py script. Some artifacts
on string length are due to how ruamel dumps content.

0b90fd5adf samples, tests, boards: Switch main return type from void to int
As both C and C++ standards require applications running under an OS to
return 'int', adapt that for Zephyr to align with those standard. This also
eliminates errors when building with clang when not using -ffreestanding,
and reduces the need for compiler flags to silence warnings for both clang
and gcc.

Most of these changes were automated using coccinelle with the following
script:

Approximately 40 files had to be edited by hand as coccinelle was unable to
fix them.

5c32300861 yamllint: fix all yamllint truthy errors
Fix all thruthy errors detected by yamllint:

yamllint -f parsable -c .yamllint $( find -regex '.*\.y[a]*ml' ) | \
  grep '(truthy)'

This only accepts true/false for boolean properties. Seems like python
takes all sort of formats:

But the current specs only mention "true" or "false"

Which is the standard yamllint config.

Excluding codeconv and workflow files, as some are using yes/no instead
in the respective documentation.

79e6b0e0f6 includes: prefer <zephyr/kernel.h> over <zephyr/zephyr.h>
As of today <zephyr/zephyr.h> is 100% equivalent to <zephyr/kernel.h>.
This patch proposes to then include <zephyr/kernel.h> instead of
<zephyr/zephyr.h> since it is more clear that you are including the
Kernel APIs and (probably) nothing else. <zephyr/zephyr.h> sounds like a
catch-all header that may be confusing. Most applications need to
include a bunch of other things to compile, e.g. driver headers or
subsystem headers like BT, logging, etc.

The idea of a catch-all header in Zephyr is probably not feasible
anyway. Reason is that Zephyr is not a library, like it could be for
example `libpython`. Zephyr provides many utilities nowadays: a kernel,
drivers, subsystems, etc and things will likely grow. A catch-all header
would be massive, difficult to keep up-to-date. It is also likely that
an application will only build a small subset. Note that subsystem-level
headers may use a catch-all approach to make things easier, though.

NOTE: This patch is **NOT** removing the header, just removing its usage
in-tree. I'd advocate for its deprecation (add a #warning on it), but I
understand many people will have concerns.

424668f5a7 tests: mec15xxevb_assy6853: Enlarge the IDLE_STACK_SIZE from 256 to 512
The test case "samples/boards/mec15xxevb_assy6853/power_management" could
always pass until commit 5f60164 was merged in. This patch changes the sem
take timeout value from 50ms to forever of the log thread, it will make the
idle thread run longer and takes more stack memory. Analyzed the coredump
of the failed test case, it can be found that the test case stucks at
z_idle_stacks. The test case used default CONFIG_IDLE_STACK_SIZE = 256 in
kernel/Kconfig, now we increase the value to 512 in prj.conf for this test
only. With this change, the test case can pass with the commit of 5f60164.

7bfd0976aa pm: state: PM_STATE_DT_ITEMS_LEN->DT_NUM_CPU_POWER_STATES
Rename PM_STATE_DT_ITEMS_LEN to DT_NUM_CPU_POWER_STATES to make its
purpose more clear. This macro could be made part of a Devicetree API
for PM in the future.

Rename the PM_STATE_INFO_DT_ITEMS_LIST macro to

naming scheme is found e.g. in the GPIO API.

Associated internal macros and docstrings have been adjusted, too.

f523c336ef pm: Use stats subsys for tracking system states
Uses the stats subsys to provide simple but useful debugging stats for
power management state changes and timing.

Removes the no longer needed PM_DEBUG config option

Replaces the use of PM_DEBUG for a test clock output pin for mec1501 and
adds in its place an SoC Kconfig option to enable it.

Adds a STATS_SET macro for assigning a value to a stat group field

1cccc8a8fe cmake: increase minimal required version to 3.20.0
Move to CMake 3.20.0.

At the Toolchain WG it was decided to move to CMake 3.20.0.

The main reason for increasing CMake version is better toolchain
support.

Better toolchain support is added in the following CMake versions:
- armclang, CMake 3.15
- Intel oneAPI, CMake 3.20
- IAR, CMake 3.15 and 3.20

b2bd0a0608 samples: add capture output for the mec15xxevb_assy6853 pm sample
To make it runnable in the sanitycheck necessary to add
capture output, because that sample runs infinite period of time
and can not finished by itself. To avoid timeout error
in the sanitycheck I added capture output for a several times.
Also added one more tag to describe that it is a power
management sample.

2e7831562a samples: mec15xxevb_assy6853/pm: shorten wait after deep sleep
The origin for sleeping for 3ms after coming out of deep sleep
was to wait for PLL to lock so that UART would not send
garbage characters due to incorrect clock. In the deep sleep
code, it spins to wait for the PLL to lock so there is no need
to wait for 3ms in the app. So shorten it like other busy wait.

32bb2395c2 timeout: Fix up API usage
Kernel timeouts have always been a 32 bit integer despite the
existence of generation macros, and existing code has been
inconsistent about using them.  Upcoming commits are going to make the
timeout arguments opaque, so fix things up to be rigorously correct.
Changes include:

+ Adding a K_TIMEOUT_EQ() macro for code that needs to compare timeout
  values for equality (e.g. with K_FOREVER or K_NO_WAIT).

+ Adding a k_msleep() synonym for k_sleep() which can continue to take
  integral arguments as k_sleep() moves away to timeout arguments.

+ Pervasively using the K_MSEC(), K_SECONDS(), et. al. macros to
  generate timeout arguments.

+ Removing the usage of K_NO_WAIT as the final argument to
  K_THREAD_DEFINE().  This is just a count of milliseconds and we need
  to use a zero.

This patch include no logic changes and should not affect generated
code at all.

407b49b35c cmake: use find_package to locate Zephyr
Using find_package to locate Zephyr.

Old behavior was to use $ENV{ZEPHYR_BASE} for inclusion of boiler plate
code.

Whenever an automatic run of CMake happend by the build system / IDE
then it was required that ZEPHYR_BASE was defined.
Using ZEPHYR_BASE only to locate the Zephyr package allows CMake to
cache the base variable and thus allowing subsequent invocation even
if ZEPHYR_BASE is not set in the environment.

It also removes the risk of strange build results if a user switchs
between different Zephyr based project folders and forgetting to reset
ZEPHYR_BASE before running ninja / make.
